in the field provided
4.

The FastSafePLUS Clients main screen
displays the status of the profile currently in use. You can at any time modify
these settings by selecting the Customize
Current Profile option under the Tasks section. Once selected, you will be
prompted for the Master Account's Password. This is not the profile's password
but the one provided to you by your service provider and the same one used when
you installed the software.
This first screen of the customize
profile section allows you to select from a predetermined list of filtering
categories that group content by type.
You may select entire categories, or individual sub-categories. See Filtering
Category Descriptions for details and examples of each.

a.
Clicking
next to a category will expand it and show
it’s subcategories
b.
Clicking
next to a category will collapse it’s list
c.
A blank box (
)
next to a listing means that it has not been selected and access to this
category is allowed
d.
A box which has
been selected (
)
means that it has been selected by clicking on it and access to this category
will be blocked
e.
If only a few of
the available subcategories are selected then the top level category has a
checked box with a grey background (
).
This means that not all subcategories have been selected.
In addition to the capability to block websites which fit
into one of the categories selected above, by selecting the Block Web
check box, you can opt to block access to the Internet completely. Once this
box is selected you have the option to block access to the Internet Always
(check Block Web and select Always radio button) or only block the
Internet during a specified time, (check Block Web and From radio
button, and specific time period). Blocking
the web function works for each specific profile, therefore if you decide to
block the web, only the particular profile that you are customizing will be

Instant Messaging, File Sharing and UseNet Newsgroup programs. You may choose to block these programs always
or during a specific time of day.

newsgroups (i.e. alt.binaries, pictures.erotica, erc.golf).
b.
Select one of the
filtering rules for each;
i.
Always – access to this application is not permitted.
ii.
From – access to this application is only available during
the time selected.
Click Next to continue
Depending on the category that was selected earlier
and because of the rapid growth of the Internet there may arise a time when a
certain website within a category should or should not be blocked. For example,
if you have selected to block Sex Sites but your child is looking for
information on STDs for a school project some of these sites might have be
categorized as Sex and would not be accessible. In that case you could enter
the URL to the site to allow access.
On the other hand you might come across a site that
doesn’t fit into one of the available categories and you would like to block
it. This can be done by adding it to the Always Block list.

The process of either allowing or blocking specific
sites is similar;
a.
Click Add
next to the list you would like to add a website to.
b.
Enter the URL in
the window below. Use www before the URL if you would like to
allow/block a specific website (i.e. www.yahoo.com). Do not enter www before
the URL if you would like to allow/block the occurrence of the text in the
entire URL (i.e. playboy.com).
IMPORTANT EXAMPLE: If you would like to
block access to playboy.com but enter http://www.playboy.com then the
main Playboy site would be blocked but all sub sites like; http://sub.playboy.com
would not be because it is not an exact match. To avoid this, enter only playboy.com
as the block URL so that the FastSafePLUS Client will look at the entire URL.

c.
Click OK
d.
When all sites
have been entered click Next to continue.
e.
Click Finish
to complete the customization of the profile.
It is recommended that each individual accessing the
Internet via the computer in which the FastSafePLUS Client is installed have
their own profile. A profile is a set of rules or privileges to which each
person(s) belongs to.
To add a new profile, select the Add a New Profile option under the Tasks section.

Enter a unique name for this profile in the Profile
Name field. This can be a person’s name, role, etc. Try to name the profile to
represent the type of filtering that will be applied to the account. For
example if you have a Child named John and would like to block access to adult
sites as well as instant messaging programs you might name the profile, son or John for the child’s name.
A unique password must also be entered and it is recommended that it be
different from the profile name and the main password. This password is used when changing from one
profile to another in real-time. The
person using this profile will need to know this password.
Enter a Hint that will help you remember your password in case you forget it in
the Password Hint field. The Password and Password Hint can not be the same.
The final step is to select one of the preset
configurations for this profile, Adult, Teenager, Child or Kid Safe. You will
be able to further configure these options once the installation is complete as
well as add additional profiles.
Click Next
to complete the profile configuration.
Click Finish to
save the new profile
A unique feature of the FastSafePLUS
Client is the ability to snooze all filtering option for 5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes
at a time.
By selecting the Snooze all Filtering and Blocking
option under the Tasks section you will be presented with the following screen.

This screen allows you to specify the Snooze Time
(5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes) and requires that you enter the Master Account
Password. This is not the profile password but the one provided to you by your
service provider and used during your installation.
NOTE: Once this feature has been applied you can not turn
it off until the time specified has elapsed. However, you can switch to a
different profile and then switch back to this one. This will reset the profile
back to its default state removing the applied snooze.
Because of the rapid growth of the Internet and the
continuous addition of new objectionable web site content the FastSafePLUS
Client is prepackaged with a Web Alert feature that allows you to report and
immediately block such content. This feature may also be used if you come
across a web site that you feel has been incorrectly classified and either
being blocked or allowed based on your current configuration.
To post a
Web Alert:
1.
Select the Send a Web Alert option under the Tasks
section
2.

report in the text box

If you would like to block the website immediately

Q: How do I update the software?
A: The FastSafePLUS
Client will automatically check to see if there is a software update available every
24 hours or when the computer is first started and connected to the Internet.
However, you can manually check for updates by selecting: Check for Software Update option under the Tasks section on the
configuration screen. If an update is available please follow the onscreen
directions in order to update your software.
Q: Some of my privacy, anti-spam and
anti-virus programs are not functioning correctly, can I run other applications
on the same machine as the FastSafePLUS Client?
A: When running
multiple applications simultaneously that are designed to filter or block
online access controls the issue of conflicts will almost always arise. This is
not an indication that a particular application is necessarily better than
another but rather that they might be competing for control. Therefore, if you
encounter that previously installed applications such as, C-Privacy or
FlashClean for example are not working correctly, it is recommended that you
disable these applications after installing the FastSafePLUS Client.
Q: When I try to install the FastSafePLUS
Client it states that I must uninstall my Google Desktop Search (GDS), why is
this and what should I do?
A: Applications which
modify your network settings in order to filter or block objectionable Internet
content, conflict with Google Desktop Search. During the initial installation
process the FastSafePLUS Client will browse to determine if the Google Desktop
Search (GDS) is installed on the same PC. If it is, follow these steps; stop
the FastSafePLUS Client installation process; uninstall GDS Desktop Search;
reinstall GDS.
TIP: Back up
your Google Desk top index directory so that you can copy it back after reinstalling
to prevent having to re-index.
Q: I see a 'not compatible' or 'network
settings' error message after installing the FastSafePLUS Client when running
Google Desktop, what should I do?
A: Uninstall the
Google Desktop software and then reinstall it. Tip: Back up your Google Desk
top index directory so that you can copy it back after reinstalling to prevent
having to re-index.
Q: Why is my Yahoo Messenger locking up or
unable to connect to the server?
A: Check to see if
you have selected to Block Instant Messaging. If so, Yahoo Messenger is
attempting to connect to the server but it is unable to because it is being
blocked by the FastSafePLUS Client.
Q: I am currently running a Firewall program
that asks if I want to allow access to webfilter.exe
, what should I do?
A: You should allow
access to webfilter.exe as this is the FastSafePLUS Client service.
